One-Stop Shop for Special Events
(for Event Coordinators)

The Special Event Permit application enables you to submit requests for special event permits online via IndyGov.  According to the Code of Indianapolis and Marion County, a special event "means a community outdoor gathering which is held on or makes use of City property."  (Code of Indianapolis and Marion County, Title IV, Article I, Section 961-103.)  Instructions for using this application are listed below the table.

  • Complete the form below ... ensuring that you complete all sections relevant to your special event.
     
    • Effective June 1, 2000, all requests to host events in the City of Indianapolis must be received by the One Stop Shop For Special Events office 60 days in advance or your event will be denied. Sixty days are necessary to ensure that all required resources are in place to support your event(s).
    • If you have difficulty filling out the application or have any questions, please contact the One Stop Shop office at (317) 327-4849.
    • Any event that utilizes more than one street (i.e. parades, walk/runs, etc.) will be required to submit a written route as well as a map of the course by fax to: (317) 327-4287.
           
  • Check the status of your request using the confirmation number generated by your request.  This will be displayed on the confirmation page and will be emailed to the email account specified on the submittal form.  The following status types are possible:
     
    • Submitted. The Controller's Office has been notified of your request but the Controller's Office staff has not yet assigned approvers.
    • Pending. Your request is pending approval.  The Controller's Office has assigned approvers but all approvers have not yet acted on the request. 
    • Approved/Denied. Your special event permit request has been approved by all approvers or denied by one or more.  In the case of an approval, you should receive the Special Event Right-of-Way Permit from the Controller's Office in 2-3 days.  In the event of denial, you will be contacted by the Controller's Office staff.
    • Archived. The Special Events Right-of-Way Permit has been generated.
